Ehlers Danlos Syndrome Types- Fact 2

The credit of the picture goes to the Invisible Zebra I just thought that they were so good that I wanted to write blog posts to elaborate on them :)

There are several different types of EDS:

In all types of EDS there is hyper mobility and they are all prone to dislocations, they also have chronic pain. In a lot of cases there are GI Issues. There is also low muscle tone.

Classical: People with the type of EDS have very fragile smooth velvety skin. It splits open very easily with little or no trauma. They are also very hyper mobile, all types of EDS have some sort of hyper mobility. Children with this tend to be called "floppy" and this means that they develop physically slower in things such as walking, sitting up etc. They also bruise very easily

Hypermobility: As the name suggests, people with this type of EDS are extremely hyper mobile. This type is most common type of EDS. Many people with this type also have a heart condition called Mitral Valve Prolapse (I can also do a post fully on this if anyone wants me too). People with this type are also prone to having GI issues.

Vascular: This type is the most dangerous and life threatening type of EDS. In a lot of cases there is spontaneous organ rupture. Veins are visible beneath the skin.

Kyphoscoliosis: People with this type have a lack of muscle tone, people with this type have scoliosis from birth

Arthrochalasia Type: People with this type have a lot of hip issues and usually present with hip dislocations at birth. They bruise easily and bruise very easily and they also have Kyphoscoliosis. There are subtypes of this type

Dermatosparaxis Type: This type has severely fragile skin and bruising they are also prone to hernias

Tenascin X Deficient Type: This type has only been recently discovered. They have the general symptoms of EDS but don't have the atrophied scars.
