Holidays. I love the holidays. I love seeing my family and giving them gifts. I see it as a way to thank them for standing by me. But being ill I can never say I will feel okay for the festivities. But even if I am not feeling great I try and have fun and do everything. The holidays can be hard because when you are sick preparing for the holidays can leave you just as sick as the actual day!! I try and pace myself before hand. I love to cook so I usually do all of the cooking on Christmas Eve but one thing I try and do is be finished by 6 o' clock at night and get an early night ready for the early morning.
I have been in hospital for a lot of holidays. That is the hardest time to be in hospital. Although the children's hospitals do a lot of fun things it is hard to be in hospital on the holidays. I am so thankful I am not in there for this year.
If you know someone who is chronically ill, who seems a bit like a party pooper when they need to go home early. Remember how hard the holidays are for them.
For those who are chronically ill remember to not be hard on yourself and pace yourself.
Hugs,
Rachael
